Honduras: an unforgettable experience

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

It is my mission as a Doula to provide support and advocate during the amazing journey of birth. It is my desire to be of assistance to all, no matter who they are or where they come from. currently I am on a journey to gain knowledge in this field and to be of service to those in need.

September 21st, 2019 I volunteered with "Dar A LUZ" in Honduras. as a Doula. We will be assisting young women through the journey of labor in public hospitals.

Day 1:  I worked 9-5 and assisted 1 birth in a birthing chair.  So wonderful I almost cried. I have 2 roommates. 1 from Philadelphia and the other from Minnesota and we are staying in the home of a women who works for the embassy.   Where we are staying is considered a resort area. No bathroom problems yet and there is a variety of food choices.

Day 2: I woke up today and meditated outside amongst birds, frogs and dogs barking. It was actually very beautiful and refreshing.  Today will be administrative work. We are trying to help Sylvia the lead get organized.  She is really running a 1 man show here as she teaches many the need and benefits of proper care for women.

Day 3: Today we traveled to Danli, a beautiful ride way above the clouds, which is 25 minutes away from Nicaragua. We taught the staff how to use peanut balls and I assisted in 2 deliveries. Just amazing!
